Munro Compleatists

Those who complete (compleat!) the Munros can record this fact and receive the magic number by writing in to The Clerk of The List (See here). Additionally, a list of current compleaters is published annually in the SMC Journal.
Jim Coxhead - 6083
Ben Chonzie - 16 October 2016

Jim writes:
I climbed my first Munro, Glas Maol with the Aberdeen University Lairig club in November 1966. It was a miserable day but we were well rewarded with a slap up meal in the Fife Arms Hotel after. A lot of folk songs were sung on the bus home.

284/284! 16/10/16 I compleated my last Munro, Ben Chonzie on a miserable freezing cold windy day with torrential rain. It was magnificent! My granddaughter seven years old and completing her first Munro presented me with an inscribed tankard. One of my Aberdeen University friends, John (pictured) joined me and would have played his bagpipes on the summit except that his fingers were too numb! A big thank you to all my climbing companions over the last fifty years who have helped me achieve this goal!
I am more than following in the footsteps of my aunt, Elizabeth Coxhead who wrote a couple of climbing novels and presented me with my first pair of climbing boots. Perhaps it is time I joined the SMC!
Thanks to my initiation into mountaineering through the Aberdeen University Lairig Club I obtained my MLC in 1979. As a schoolteacher I have taken hundreds of children hill walking. Many of my former pupils are now involved in outdoor education either as instructors or school teachers themselves.
