Munro Compleatists

Those who complete (compleat!) the Munros can record this fact and receive the magic number by writing in to The Clerk of The List (See here). Additionally, a list of current compleaters is published annually in the SMC Journal.
Fraser Campbell - 5958
Bla Bheinn (Blaven) - 4 June 2016

Fraser writes:
Bla Bheinn (Blaven) was successfully ascended on 4th June 2016 by ten of us, including various family members and friends. Having ascended my first Munro (Ben Nevis) with my father on 4th June 1966, it was very special to be able to 'compleat' the set exactly fifty years later with a group which included my wife and two sons. The project had made slow progress over the years, but around 2011 I decided to 'go for it'. The weather on Bla Bheinn was surprisingly favourable, with warm sunshine and beautiful views, as well as a light breeze to keep the midges at bay.

During all too many of my Munro days I bemoaned the thousands of gallons of rain which have drenched me, my boots and my equipment. Yet, paradoxically, that same water could have been life-giving to people in many parts of the world where a lack of clean water leads to a wide range of diseases. I therefore decided that it would be appropriate to use the opportunity of my Munro 'compleation' to raise money for the world-wide activities of Water Aid. Many friends and colleagues responded extremely generously, with the result that Water Aid received in excess of 2,000 (including Gift Aid).

As is traditional, on the summit we consumed some champagne and we also, rather less traditionally, sang the first verse and chorus of a hymn "To God be the glory great things He hath done". The day was rounded off in a local hotel with a dinner spent reminiscing about successful, and not so successful, days on the Scottish mountains. All in all it was a great day.
