Munro Compleatists

Those who complete (compleat!) the Munros can record this fact and receive the magic number by writing in to The Clerk of The List (See here). Additionally, a list of current compleaters is published annually in the SMC Journal.

The photo was taken by Mark Dawson. In the back row are: Dave, Heather (John's wife), Naomi (daughter-in-law elect), Ben (son-in-law), Matthew (son), Perry, Paul (nephew), John Hall (white beard), Dylan (great nephew), Alfie, Mike (brother), Chris (nephew). The 7 in front row: Geoff, Seth (great nephew, in red), Maureen, Rob, Brady (9 year-old great nephew), June, Pat.

John writes:
I compleated my magical Munro journey after 19 years, one month and 3 days having walked 1,880 miles and climbed 590,000 feet. On the day the weather wasn't helpful, but thankfully only the top few hundred feet were in cloud and it really only rained near the summit.

A party of 20 family and friends made it to the top, including 3 recent "compleaters" (Geoff and June Davidson and Mark Dawson - numbers 5025, 5026 and 5454). There were also 11 Munro "virgins", including my 73 year old brother, my son, 2 nephews and 3 great nephews.

I had previously reached Munro summits with 6 of the party at different times. In view of the poor weather, the champagne had to wait until we returned to the subsidiary top.

It was a great day despite the weather. The camaraderie was wonderful, possibly helped by the dinner we enjoyed in Fisher's Hotel in Pitlochry the night before, when the party included 7 family members who felt that a Munro was a bit beyond their reach.
