Munro Compleatists

Those who complete (compleat!) the Munros can record this fact and receive the magic number by writing in to The Clerk of The List (See here). Additionally, a list of current compleaters is published annually in the SMC Journal.

Alison and Mike write:
We climbed our first Munro, Dreish, by "accident", on 3 July 1993 and completed by climbing Beinn na Lap on 6 October 2012. Over the 19 years that it took us to bag all the Munros we did every hill together. We know that can't be a unique achievement but presume not many couples will have done it.

We were accompanied to the summit of Beinn na Lap by a party of 38, consisting of friends, many who are fellow members of Gala Water Outdoor Activities Club, and family as well as 5 dogs. The group also included 6 Munro virgins and 5 fellow compleatists from our club. It was a great day out which involved taking the train from Tyndrum to Corrour up the hill and back down to the Corrour Station House Restaurant, in plenty of time for some celebratory drinks. We then caught the train back to Tyndrum to carry on partying at the By the Way Hostel where we were staying.

A couple of members of the club, who have already completed, took the early train to Corrour so that they could bag a Corbett before meeting us back down at the station for our hill! We’re not sure if we are going to follow their lead, although we have done 27 Corbetts so far, or just continue to climb Scotland’s hills as the fancy takes us. There are certainly a few Munros that we mean to revisit as the "views" from some were very limited to say the least.
