Munro Compleatists

Those who complete (compleat!) the Munros can record this fact and receive the magic number by writing in to The Clerk of The List (See here). Additionally, a list of current compleaters is published annually in the SMC Journal.

Tim writes: my final Munro was chosen because of its novel approach, its ease of ascent and the prospect of refreshment in civilised surroundings back at the station. The photo is of me with my daughter, Emma Flisher, at the summit cairn. I have conquered most of the Munros as a lone expeditionist, but on this special occasion was accompanied also by my son Simon, Emmaís fiance Mark Burns and my ex, Lorraine Flisher. Unfortunately, in all the excitement, I do not seem to have a group picture. Simonís partner was 5 months pregnant, so remained at Bridge of Orchy in the hotel (I now have a grandson!). We took the train to Corrour and had a splendid day in excellent weather with superb views of Rannoch Moor and other peaks, my first Munro (Schiehallion) being clearly visible to the south east and Ben Nevis looming to the north west, all very enjoyable and memorable.

Itís a long way from my home near Canterbury to the Highlands but while I have compleated the Munros, I aim to make my annual pilgrimage in 2012 and revisit some of those few summits where the weather was contrary first time around, conquer a few Corbetts, visit some islands and generally enjoy a very special part of the world.
