Those who complete (compleat!) the Munros can record this fact and receive the magic number by writing in to The Clerk of The List (See here). Additionally, a list of current compleaters is published annually in the SMC Journal.

John writes: photo shows my son Richard, youngest daughter Jenny and myself. Jenny and I also appear on Richard's compleatist photo number 4826.
I began the quest in August 1966 on Bidean nam Bian and by 1975 had racked up an impressive total of 21!
About this time I saw a copy of The Tables and realised how many more there were!
I sat back until 1990 when I resumed the task, now joined by Richard and other family members.
It would take us 21 years walking together (and separately) to compleat, with Richard marking time for a year or so while I scrambled to mop up 'pockets of resistance' so that we could finish together.
As I took 158 hill days against Richard's 134, I was much less efficient, so my distance walked and height climbed must be significantly more than the figures he quotes. I didn't use skis but the bike saved some miles on the approach to 64 hills. On 49 summits there was no view at all.
We had great weather on the day with the rain starting as we got back to the cars. A pleasant evening then followed in the Bridge of Orchy Hotel.
What next? As we live in Cumbria, finishing the Wainwrights seems a logical choice!
