Munro Compleatists

Those who complete (compleat!) the Munros can record this fact and receive the magic number by writing in to The Clerk of The List (See here). Additionally, a list of current compleaters is published annually in the SMC Journal.
Ivor Normand ó 4405
Ben Avon ó 2 June 2006

Ivor writes: having deferred last-Munro gratification for over a year, I braved Ben Avonís high winds with fellow 'A-Team' members Adrian Elson (hoping to compleat in 2011), his wife Chantal (4748 Ė the 2nd Dutch female Munroist) and another friend, Roger Brereton. We celebrated in style with beer and Bowmore on snow below the summit, then whooped it up in Edinburgh.

My first Munros, as a kid in the 1970s, were Ben Lomond and Cairn Gorm, each of which Iíve now been up too many times to count. In an A. E. Robertsonesque desultory campaign, I took 31 years to compleat, never exceeding 36 new Munros in any calendar year (1993; and 37 in 1996, though that included Sgor an Iubhair, the 1997 demotee) despite living in Edinburgh continuously since 1993.

For me, hills are about the banter, the views and the sense of proportion. To my surprise, I last did a solo ascent in 2000. With my pals, Iíve attended a few other last Munros and parties (4452; 4730+1; 4748) and have happened across yet more. As of June 2011, Iím 17 Munros short of a 2nd round and am into the last 100 of a 3rd round.
