Munro Compleatists

Those who complete (compleat!) the Munros can record this fact and receive the magic number by writing in to The Clerk of The List (See here). Additionally, a list of current compleaters is published annually in the SMC Journal.

Sarah writes: A group of 30 reached the top in atrocious weather. It was extremely wet from about half way up, with 40mph winds gusting to about 55mph, which knocked several people off their feet. The non-walkers in the party had a real Scottish hill experience; after all we would not want them to think Munro bagging was easy?

The party included my brother John McRae and my regular walking companions Brian Johnston, Maggie Taylor and Ruth Ward. I also carried the ashes of my cocker spaniel Iggy whose 230th Munro it would have been, and who died in May at the age of 12. The other members of the party were Richard & Jo Doake (& border collie Charlie), Jan & Graham Pye, Malcolm Oswald, Kevin Marchand, Jim Gardner, Stewart Adam, Ken & Denise Fallas, Tony & Fiona Kinghorn, Charlotte Moon, David Stevenson, Hamish McKenzie, Christine Merrick, Andrew & Katy Gray, Campbell Gray, Sam & David Shortt, Ben Cove, Natasha Park, Stephen Druitt and Eileen.

Thanks to all of these for sharing my special day, and to Fiona Gardner who looked after my new cocker spaniel Fingal, who at 4 months was too young to join us.
