Munro Compleatists

Those who complete (compleat!) the Munros can record this fact and receive the magic number by writing in to The Clerk of The List (See here). Additionally, a list of current compleaters is published annually in the SMC Journal.

Martin writes: My first Munro was Ben Nevis on 9th October 1996. I'm 38 (11.03.69) and have been walking in the hills since 1995, primarily with my good friends James Cockburn (M3747 with photo link below) and James Stubley, throughout the British Isles and with some walks also in the Alps, Africa & South America.

The first 99 Munros were undertaken mostly in winter, on trips up from Somerset; my 100th was camped upon the top of Ben Klibreck on the night of the Annular Solar Eclipse on 31st May 2003, since which time I have resided in Edinburgh to be nearer to the Munros.

We had a great time on Skye where, in preceding days, we also did Bruach na Frithe and Am Basteir, having previously spent a few days on Knoydart doing Ladhar Bheinn in wind & rain.

I'm keen now to find new areas & intricate land / seascapes of all scales, including their fauna, flora, history & archaeology " a revisit to Sutherland is high on the agenda.
