Munro Compleatists

Those who complete (compleat!) the Munros can record this fact and receive the magic number by writing in to The Clerk of The List (See here). Additionally, a list of current compleaters is published annually in the SMC Journal.
Iain K. Macleod - 344
Beinn Dearg (Atholl) - 1984

On Saturday 20 June 2009 I completed my second round on Tom na Gruagaich- the subsidiary Munro of Beinn Alligin.

I took 6 years over the first round. But 31 over my second. A third round would see me complete at around age 120.

My photo on the SMC site from 1984 shows a helicopter. (I'm back row, seventh from right). That was because I was keen to get my father there that day. But no helicopter on Tom na Gruagaich- although my Dad was at the bottom to welcome us back.

As a bit of fun (at least from their perspective) some of my friends, back in 1984, tied me up with rope a few yards from the summit of Beinn Dearg- an ironic commentary on the frivolity of the Munroing pursuit perhaps. And did a few of them not do it again on 20 June - you'll be glad to know I escaped unscathed.

I was accompanied by 1 Munroist (Ian Stalker 399), 2 Munroists who have never registered and a further 2 who have quite deliberately not done their final Munro (and no it's not the Inn Pinn) for over 10 years. In the 2009 compleation I'm second from left.
