Munro Compleatists

Those who complete (compleat!) the Munros can record this fact and receive the magic number by writing in to The Clerk of The List (See here). Additionally, a list of current compleaters is published annually in the SMC Journal.
Paul Newby - 3417
Ben Chonzie - 30 July 2005

It is now over forty years since the mists parted to reveal an orange sun rising over Sauchiehall Street after a terrible overnight drive from the south of England in March 1965, and a few hours later four undergraduates navigated through cloud and driving sleet to their first Munro summit of Bidean nam Bian, and safely back down.

It was with pleasure, pride, relief and not a little regret that one of those undergraduates, Paul Newby, made his way with thirteen family and friends (including granddaughter Katherine, 2) to the summit of Ben Chonzie on 30 July 2005 to celebrate his Compleation. A stoical support party of five (including baby grandson Robin, 9 weeks old) awaited our return to the Loch Turret car park.
