Those who complete (compleat!) the Munros can record this fact and receive the magic number by writing in to The Clerk of The List (See here). Additionally, a list of current compleaters is published annually in the SMC Journal.
Joan Sherry and Peter Birbeck - 2046 & 2047
Ben Lomond - 19 September 1998
Joan and Peter write:
We were accompanied by thirty or so friends from the north west of England, who are mainly based in Carlisle. Seven bottles of champagne were consumed at the summit, and how we all descended safely I do not know, especially as we came down the Ptarmigan Ridge.
We did all the Munros as a couple and in fact it was only on this last one that we had other companions. Joan had insisted that we save Ben Lomond until last in order to have a mountain with easier to access for our friends from the south.
Our first Munro was Bidean nam Bian on 16/9/1989, so it had taken us nine years to do them.
Worth noting, there was a small boy in another summiting group who was making his first ascent of a Munro that day.
We still proudly wear our compleator's tie and or brooch.
We married three months later, just before Christmas and the honeymoon was a ski holiday in Italy.
